Antique stone fireplace with trumeau and molded cornice

Antique fireplace made of natural stone carved out of quarries situated in the city of Pons (Charente-Maritime). This late 17th Century, Louis XIV style fireplace with its trumeau was owned by someone living in an executive home situated in the city of Cognac (hence its imposing architectural line).

Its trumeau is centered by frames in relief and topped by a beautifully molded cornice with drip edges. This fireplace has harmonious proportions.

In fact, its thick slanting jambs rest on protruding monolithic foot blocks. The monolithic lintel with its shelf protruding over the jambs tops the lower part.

This beautiful fireplace has an imposing but elegant appearance and holds a Certificate issued by the French Ministry of Culture.
