Louis XVI style marble mantle of the 19th century

This large antique mantle was made of grey marble with fine white veins by a craftsman of the 19th century. It is inspired by the geometric style of Louis XVI fireplaces.

A fine, molded shelf rests gently on a rectangular lintel with a centered engraved frame and triglyphs (a slightly projecting block of the antique architecture occurring at regular intervals and having two vertical grooves (glyphs)) on the jambs.

This lintel is held by a pair of straight jambs adorned with finger flutes. The jambs rests on marble bases.
