20th Century Louis XV style antique fireplace in stone

This fireplace was made of Savonniere stone (a natural calcareous soft stone carved out of quarries situated in Lorraine region) in the 20th Century.  This fireplace was strongly inspired by the Louis XV style.

It was finely hand carved and has beautiful proportions and engravings.

The shapely canted jambs sit on thick foot blocks and are topped by a monolithic serpentine lintel centered by a wonderful asymmetrical shell. This shell is a characteristic feature of the Regency and Louis XV styles. It is draped by floral and leaves details and flanked by finely engraved panels. The angles have also hand-sculpted leaves details. The molded shelf perfectly fits the shape of the lintel. The hearth is beautifully molded and fits the the shape of the low-arched lintel.

A very beautiful handcrafted fireplace made in the East part of France. Let’s imagine it as the new focal point of your living room!
