Ancient cast iron chimney back: Fleurs-de-lis
This antique cast iron chimney has a rectangular shape. Made in France, it proposes a quite sober decoration made of 6 large fleurs-de-lis in relief, 3 at the top of the chimney back and 3 others at the bottom.
The fleur-de-lis is one of most used symbols in heraldic art and one of the oldest elements in the world. In France, fleurs-de-lis appeared on the Coats of Arms of France during the reign of Louis VII. They became one of the emblems that French people use to attribute to the Kings of France.
