Late 17th Century antique stone fireplace with trumeau

Late 17th Century antique soft stone fireplace with trumeau.

Its slanting jambs are very simple and are topped by a monolithic lintel molded with a protruding shelf. The hood is topped by a thoroughly molded cornice. It is centered by a flat frame in relief with an ogee-molding running along. This frame can hold a painting.

This fireplace adopts the characteristics of the Louis XIV architectural style: harmony, majesty and distinction.

It was salvaged in an executive stone home situated in the city of Cognac.
