Wonderful 19th century marble mantle

This beautiful and rare Louis XIV style antique mantle with a rounded appearance dates from the 19th century. The mantles with rounded corners were very popular at the end of the 18th century and become a true classic in the 19th century.

The sculpture is chiselled. Thanks to the rounded shapes of the whole piece, it reveals a bolection molding around the hearth. It is a characteristic of the Louis XIV style. The lintel is decorated with frames in spandrels appearing on either side of a circle situated in the center. The molded shelf follows the circular angles of the mantle.

This beautiful antique mantle is made of a very nice breccia marble with mauve veins, Sienna and white with dominant grey.
