French Directoire style (Louis XVI) antique fireplace

This lovely small antique fireplace made of Euville stone was made and salvaged in Lorraine region during the Directory period (1795-1799). Nevertheless, it features all the characteristics of the Louis XIII style: geometric style and pure lines.

The integral shelf (lintel) is centered by a protruding sculpted lozenge flanked by two side triglyphs just above the jambs. The straight jambs are animated with flutes and stop-flutes and sit on rectangular foot blocks.

This well-proportioned fireplace is beautiful and authentic. It will fit within any decorating styles and will definitely brighten up your winter evenings!
