Louis XIII style antique stone fireplace

This large rustic Louis XIII style fireplace was carved out of Dijon stone: a beautiful hard calcareous stone containing iron sulfide that react with water and air producing yellow, ochre, brown or red tones

It is beautiful with its double flat molding above the hearth. It features a wide hearth opening and a wide molded lintel. Its drip cornice is impressive. The jambs are high, slender and curved. They offer beautiful and thin sculptures on their lower part. We can see, among other things, the hand-carved fleurs-de-lis above the curves
