Early 18th century style antique fireplace

Louis XVI style antique fireplace. It was hand carved into the Burgundy hard stone quarried in the city of Corton.

The deep console-shaped jambs make the whole piece very harmonious with their rectangular panels. The monolithic lintel has flutes and rectangular panels in relief and is topped by a molded shelf.

This fireplace is very elegant and bears witness to the Louis XVI style and to the hard work of former skilled stonemasons.
