This exceptional and rare Napoleon III Style mantle is beautiful!
Made in the 19th century, it was sculpted in a very beautiful white marble. It has a beautiful crossbow shaped lintel delimited by several bolection moldings. A cartouche adorns the center of the lintel. It is topped by a beaded clip and scrolls facing one another. At the level of the scroll is hung a falling flower. These flowers have the trace of fixing points of bronze ornaments.
The console jambs are applied to the hearth, the scrolls define the thickness of the curves, and foliage motifs fill the not covered parts by the volutes. In front, the jambs feature three finger flutes topped by three buttons. A frame appears on the upper curved part and three small juxtaposed bolection moldings decorate the lower curves. The carved and molded tablet is supported by modillions sculpted with beautifully carved acanthus leaves.
