Large Louis XVI style antique gray marble mantle

This large antique gray breccia marble mantle with beautiful white veins was made in the 19th century. It is inspired by the geometric Louis XVI style which is characterized by straight and pure lines, geometric motifs and Antiquity inspired decorative elements.

The jambs are straight and decorated with a rectangular engraving over the whole height. They support a lintel decorated with a cartouche centered by a torus and 2 carved squares above the jambs. The wide shelf above the whole piece is thin and moulded.
