Antique cast iron fire back: Vulcan’s forge

This beautiful antique decorative cast iron fire back has a square shape. This large chimney back has an eyebrow shape. It depicts a scene of Roman mythology: Venus in the Vulcan’s forge centered by a beautiful molded frame.

This scene refers to Apollo informing to Vulcan (Roman god of fire & the blacksmith of the gods) the adultery of Venus with Mars. Vulcan, as an offended husband loses both his self-control and the work he was carrying out.

This French Louis 14 style fire back is in good condition.
