Wonderful antique fireplace made of Trets marble. This marble was carved out of quarries which no longer exist in the French department of Bouches du Rhône in the city of Saint Jean du Puy. This Breccia marble has a light ocher color with red and brown veins.
This 19th century antique Pompadour fireplace is strongly inspired by Louis XV style fireplaces.
This fireplace features beautiful moldings and carvings along the jambs and the lintel. This lintel has a crossbow shape and is beautifully decorated panels. It is also centered by a carved oval motif. The molded shelf gently sits on the lintel and features also the same elegant crossbow shape. The molded console-shaped jambs are decorated with volutes. Those canted jambs produce a sensation of depth.
