19th Century cast-iron fireplace fireback : pair of pillars, crown and ribbon
This antique cast iron fireplace plate is large in size and square in shape.
This beautiful nineteenth century fireback offers a rather sober decoration highlighted by a double molded frame : a pair of large ionic columns and, in the center, a large crown supported by a ribbon.
A fireplace fireback is a large and thick iron plate, often decorated with forged sculptures, that serves not only to preserve the masonry of the mantel's heart but also to return the heat of the fire in the room.
