Antique gray marble mantle decorated with rosettes

This lovely antique Louis XVI Style mantle features a straight hearth opening. It was made in the 19th century and was carved into beautiful gray marble richly veined with white.

The pair of straight jambs, fastened to the hearth, is nicely decorated with finger flutes. They rest on marble bases. The lintel features a molded frame. At the ends of the lintel, square blocks in relief are adorned with finely hand-carved rosettes. They are embedded to the jambs by a convex-concave molding. The shelf is thin and molded.
