17th-Century Louis XIII countryside stone fireplace

This Louis XIII fireplace crafted from the Sorcy stone (a white limestone) is a charming countryside reclaimed mantel dating from the 17th Century.

It features a pair of tall jambs supporting carved corbels. The massive keyed lintel is elegantly topped by a thin and finely molded cornice.

Salvaged from a farmhouse located in Moselle, a region of eastern France, this mantel carries the charm and authenticity of French countryside living.
It was not only used to heat the room in which it was installed, but also for cooking.
