Large French Restoration style black marble mantle

This large French Restoration Style antique mantle was designed as pier table. The shelf and the lintel are perfectly rectilinear and create a strong contrast with the jambs with modillions adorned by protruding moldings. The modillions are carved in high-relief but differ from the jambs only by the presence of a small horizontal molding in relief.
