Wonderful Louis XIII style antique stone fireplace with trumeau and thorough carvings

Antique stone fireplace from the French Department of Charentes with a beautifully sculpted trumeau.

This large Louis XIII style fireplace has thin tapering jambs that raise a rectangular monolithic lintel and a carved shelf. The lower part of the fireplace is much more simple than the upper part. In fact, the wealth of carved details on the upper part of this rural fireplace reflects the genius of the stonecutters of the 17th century. The trumeau has a decorative addition of a central square molding flanked by two sculpted pillars topped by carved anthemion. A thoroughly carved cornice tops the whole piece.

Why don’t you try this stunning antique fireplace in your home? It will definitely warm and brighten up your property!
