Napoleon III pink marble mantle

Made in the 19th century, this antique mantle was carved and hand-sculpted by a master craftsman into pink marble richly veined with white.

Very representative of the Napoleon III Style, it offers a fine molded shelf that rests delicately on a simple rectangular lintel. This lintel rests on straight jambs topped by modillions with volutes and foliage. The jambs rest on marble bases. The hearth opening is highlighted by a streamlined throat.
