Beautiful 19th century black and white marble mantle

This beautiful antique mantle with a pure design was made in the 19th century in black marble veined white.

This Directoire style (French Directory Style) mantle, perfectly adopts the profile of the 19th century furniture design and is treated as a console. The Directoire style (1790-1800) includes the revolutionary period, the Directory itself and the beginning of the Consulate and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is a period of somewhat austere mores. The consequence on artistic production is a reinforcement of the Antique inspiration. The interior decoration of this period is above all, simple and seeks the purity of lines.

This fireplace is the very example: jambs, lintel and tablet are straight, simple and feature pure lines.
