Original and unique small 19th-century stone fireplace

This rather petite antique fireplace hand-crafted from white semi-soft limestone dates from the 19th century.

Carved into the Savonnière stone now bearing a nice natural patina of time, this original and unique mantelpiece is inspired by the Louis XIV style, with opulent bolection molding surrounding the hearth opening. The corners of the lintel feature charming protruding quarter-circle engravings, while the console-shaped jambs are stocky and the wide tablet above the lintel is elegantly molded.

Its small size suggests it may originally have been a model - quite delightful, isn’t it ?
Why not give it a cozy spot in a bedroom ?
