Regency style antique stone fireplace with trumeau

This wonderful 18th century fireplace is made of Savonniere soft stone. It is characterized by the historical authenticity of its design and the outstanding quality of its craftsmanship and materials.

This fireplace was salvaged in an old monastery situated in the department of Meuse.

Straight jambs sit on thick rectangular foot blocks and are topped by a quite simple monolithic lintel. This lintel is animated with finely engraved panels. The thin shelf is beautifully molded. The lower part of this fireplace is much more simple than its upper part. In fact, the trumeau has rounded and softened angles. It features beautiful moldings and sculptures: finely molded frame decorated with a flowered shell (characteristic feature of the Regency style) flanked by engraved pilasters. A beautifully molded cornice ends the whole piece.

This very beautiful Regency style antique fireplace will definitely add an authentic feel to your home.
