Wonderful Louis XVI style antique fireplace with trumeau

Louis XVI style fireplace with trumeau made of stone from Thénac. This antique fireplace of the Louis XVI style comes from Bordeaux region. It was unassembled from a private estate in the city of Jonzac.

The main characteristics of the Louis XVI style fireplaces are their strong architectural line and their straight design. In fact, those massive slanting jambs rest on thick rectangular column bases. The monolithic lintel is rectangular and ornamented with finger flutes. The trumeau is also carved with open finger fluted moldings on each side of a frame in relief in the center. This last element is very useful if you want to place a mirror or a painting for example. A beautiful protruding cornice tops the whole fireplace.

This elegant fireplace will add an authentic feel to your house. A useful and charming architectural element.
