Louis XIII style antique fireplace

Very beautiful Louis XIII style antique stone fireplace.

This 17th century fireplace features all the characteristics of the Louis XIII style. They were initially installed into walls to warm up large spaces. There were also used for everyday cooking.

The high S-shaped console jambs sit on thick monolithic foot blocks. The keystone lintel is topped by a beautifully molded cornice with drip edges. This fireplace is made of Sorcy stone. This natural fine-grained white calcareous stone with rounded pebbles (of an hazelnut size) was once quarried in the East part of France.

This antique fireplace can be can be re-proportioned if desired.
