17th century, French, Louis XIII style fireplace with stone trumeau

This 17th century, Louis XIII style country fireplace is quite simple. Entirely made of stone, it was unassembled in a farm situated in the region of La Rochelle in the French Department of Charente.

The foot blocks are rectangular and monolithic. Its thin and slender jambs have chamfered outer edges. The monolithic stone lintel has a rectangular shape. The upper part of the fireplace is composed of a trumeau with a decorative central molding creating a square frame in relief (perfect to place a mirror or a painting) and a thoroughly carved cornice with rounded edges.

This antique country fireplace would be perfect in the main room of a Provençal mas!
