Wonderful Louis XVI style antique mantle made of Pyrenees pink marble

This wonderful 19th century antique mantle is made of Pyrenees pink marble. This marble is carved out of a quarry situated in the French department of Ariège . This quarry dates back to the Antiquity! This pink marble has white veins. It has homogeneous color and grain.

This Louis XVI style antique mantle is beautifully decorated with sculpted flutes all along the jambs and the lintel. The straight fluted jambs rest on protruding foot blocks. They are beautifully molded on their upper parts. Their shape makes them look like Doric columns. The lintel is also beautifully decorated with carved panels and carvings. The hearth opening is straight and simple. The thin molded shelf ends the whole piece.

This antique mantle is wonderful! It will definite brighten up your living space! It can be used as a decorative item or as a console table. Why don’t you use it as a closed hearth fireplace with an insert ?
