Louis XVI style finely carved fireplace with trumeau

This beautiful and elegant antique fireplace is of the Louis XVI style. It combines the characteristics associated with this style that blends floral and geometric details – characteristic features of this period.

This antique stone fireplace features superb hand-sculpted ornaments made by a master craftsman stone cutter.

It has a pair of simple tapering jambs that elegantly hold a rectangular monolithic lintel that looks like a shelf. This lintel is decorated with carved flutes. The trumeau that tops it is wonderful! It is very nicely decorated with various sculptures: two fluted ionic columns, a molded framing centered by a beautiful floral motif. This trumeau is highlighted by an opulent multi-level molded cornice.

This fireplace is ideal for architectural refinement enthusiast!
