Antique hard stone veneering fireplace with base

This small antique veneered fireplace is inspired by the Louis XIV style. Its monolithic crossbow-shaped lintel is adorned with finely hand-carved decoration, including a central leaf motif and 2 tori. The lintel is surmounted by a finely molded shelf, while the narrow jambs are straight and molded.

These opulent “boudin” moldings extend onto the lower arched section of the lintel, elegantly framing the firebox opening.

Crafted from hard lime stone weathered by time, the mantel rests on a thick, overhanging base.
