Louis XIV Style antique red marble mantle with credence

This antique Louis XIV style fireplace was carved and carved by hand in the 19th century in a beautiful red marble richly veined with white.

This marble fireplace, a rare and unique piece, presents a beautiful credence decorated with whorls that look like snails. Its depressed arch hearth is beautifully enhanced by a protruding bolection moulding. This moulding run along the jambs. This last element is very characteristic of the Louis XIV architectural style. The frame of the lintel extends in relief on the jambs. These jambs rest on foot blocks. The tablet is thin and moulded.
