Wonderful Louis XV style antique stone fireplace with trumeau

Wonderful Louis XV style stone fireplace.

The jambs are slightly curved and are topped by a low-arched lintel and a finely molded shelf. A wide bolection molding surrounds the whole hearth (characteristic feature of this period). The trumeau is wonderful and features beautiful moldings and carvings. The flared cornice perfectly fits the shape of all rounded edges of the fireplace.

This 18th century fireplace was salvaged in an disused building owned by the French military staff.
