Louis XVI antique fireplace with trumeau crafted from Richemont stone

This antique French Louis XVI fireplace with trumeau (1754-1793) captivates by the elegance of its geometric lines and the finesse of its hand-sculpted decoration.

Carved from Richemont stone, a fine-grained limestone in warm yellow-ochre tones, it was reclaimed from a former grand townhouse in Cognac (South-West of France).

It features all the characteristics of fireplaces from the second half of the 18th century :

  • A pair of straight fluted and stop-fluted jambs,
  • A rectangular monolithic lintel adorned with 2 rosettes and a stunning central cartouche featuring running pearls and fluted and stop-fluted,
  • A thin breakfront shelf,
  • A geometric trumeau decorated with side columns and a central molded frame, embellished by a cascading ribboned garland,
  • A fine molded cornice, also adorned with sculpted beading.

Full of charm and history, this fireplace will undoubtedly bring warmth, conviviality, and refined elegance to your home.
