Beautiful antique Louis XVI fireplace in patinated stone with trumeau

This wide and tall Louis XVI fireplace with trumeau was carved in a beautiful limestone. It has a beautiful natural patina and some very fine molded hand-sculptures.

Although it was reclaimed from a house located near Les Baux de Provence (South of France), this fireplace does not originally come from our beautiful region of Provence. We know this because the limestone used to make this 18th Century fireplace is not a limestone extarcted from our mountains !

With its heavily sculpted heeled jambs and its lintel with molded tablet sculpted with the same patterns, this fireplace is of all elegance !
The upper part is composed of a trumeau and an overhanging cornice with fine moldings. The trumeau is animated in its center with a frame molded in relief and, on the corners, sculptures recalling the motifs present on the jambs and the lintel.

A very nice fireplace with trumeau to fit perfectly in a large room and add a touch of elegance and style.
